Beaches & Surfing
If you want to spend some time on Narooma's beautiful beaches, you'll be rewarded by crystall clear waters, golden stretches of sand, dynamic rock formations and a variety of water conditions to suit all levels of paddlers, swimmers and surfers.
Narooma has many surfing beaches however Bar Beach which runs north from the inlet entrance has the best reputation and also has an enclosed swimming area for children. The beaches to the south in the Conservation Area are more remote and especially good. These are Mystery Bay and 1080.
1080 & Camel Rocks are local surf destinations when the wind is coming from the north. Should a southerly be blowing then the stretches of beach from Bar beach to Dalmeny are the places to go. The Whale Motor Inn has staff on hand who are keen surfers and would be happy to point visitors in the right direction. Remember to watch out for rips, swim between 'the flags' (patrolled in summer) and slip, slop, slap.
