Mt. Gulaga & Umbarra Cultural Centre

Mount Gulaga, named Mount Dromedary by Captain Cook in 1770 and is a significant landmark for the southern half of the Eurobodalla Nature Coast. It had great spiritual significance to the local indigenous people (Yuin), whose descendants today still hold the mountain in special reverence.

Umbarra Cultural Centre is only a short drive from Narooma and is set in beautiful native bushland. Umbarra is the black duck totem of the Yuin people. The centre provides visitors with the opportunity to experience the culture of the Yuin people and the ability to participate in a range of activities including ochre painting, boomerang throwing and bark hut shelter building.

Umbarra Cultural Tours conduct special tours. It is also possible to walk the mountain however you will need to allow the best part of a day and ask us for a map.
